General Meeting Meetings are held the first Monday of the month at the Pacific Grove Community Center, 515 Junipero Street (at 15th) in Pacific Grove most of the year. The meetings are on ZOOM in November, January and February. Meetings start at 6:30. Guests are always welcome and are asked to pay a $5 fee to attend the evening program. At the In-person meetings MPQG Committee tables line the meeting room from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. These tables are staffed by the worker bees of the Guild including those from Workshops, Community Outreach Quilts, UFO Project (Un-Finished Objects), and Membership. They're ready to tell you what is happening. The Library has a wonderful variety of quilt-related books available for perusal during the social period before the general meeting. Members may check out books and DVDs for a period of one month. The fine for an overdue item is $1.00 per month.
Workshops are held several times each year. Knowledgeable quilting teachers present one or two-day workshops. Paid reservations are required
Community Outreach efforts provide many handmade items to give people comfort. These include neonatal and lap size quilts, heart-shaped pillows which are donated to several local non-profit organizations. At the general meeting, the Community Liaison committee member distributes packets of fabrics and patterns, which may be used by members to make the quilts. click here to learn more
The Grants Program
As part of our mission statement “to preserve and encourage” MPQG gives annual grants. Recipients of these are groups that provide educational and creative programs consistent with the MPQG purpose. Requests are accepted annually between September 1 and December 31 with the Grants awarded each January. To apply for a Grant, complete the Grant application and mail as indicated on the form. click here for the application.
Friendship Groups
Friendship Groups are small groups of quilters who meet regularly to enjoy quilting, chatting, and sharing in a small group setting. They consist of Guild members who get together regularly in a variety of relaxed atmospheres. These groups offer an opportunity for members to develop friendships, share quilting interests, techniques, and skills in a small group setting. Activities may include one's own project, group projects or challenges, afternoon libation, as well as charity quilts. No fees, no requirements, no roll call and no obligation. Just drop in and say hello or stay and join the fun.
Are you interested in being part of a small group? Check the current roster, available in the MPQG monthly Newsletter, for an opportunity to join a group that might fit into your schedule and suit your interests. If the roster doesn't say otherwise, the group is open for new participants. Click to go to the NEWS page.
ZOOM groups have worked out well. No need to make reservations, no obligation, just a nice quilty visit. ZOOM groups are always open. See the Newsletter for ZOOM group information.
